Essay

The thesis is devoted to the complex study of language expression in literary texts of Ukrainian national liberation struggle of the 40-50s of the 20th century. The paper highlights features of realization of expressive potential of the nationally marked lexicon, folklore symbols-canons, sacral, mythological, military and stylistically colored vocabulary. Semantic, stylistic and pragmatic peculiarities of precedent names functioning are analyzed. Great attention is devoted to the expressive possibilities of precedent motivated plural forms of proper names. Expressive potential of occasional nominations, peculiarities of their semantic, pragmatic orientation and functioning are determined and means of expressive semantics of new formations are revealed in the thesis. Expressive parameters of dominant tropeic patterns (metaphorical syntagms, epithetic word combinations, comparative constructions), their functional-stylistic charge (cognitive, axiological, descriptive visual, image-forming, idiostylistic, allusive functions) are defined in the manuscript. The thesis deals with the analysis of expressive-stylistic means of semantic and structural organization of the literary texts of Ukrainian resistance. Besides an expressive function, a number of other important functions, such as axiological, emphatic, evaluative, explanatory-specifying, stylistic, actualizing and composing, are identified in the research. The stylistic device of allusion as a means of creating expressive implication is also considered in the thesis.
