Essay

The basis of the data are of clinical and instrumental examination of 61 patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Found that long-term therapy with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor sildenafil leads to increased exercise tolerance, reduced systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery, reducing the size of the right ventricle. Long-term therapy with sildenafil has a positive effect on the dynamics of ET-1 and VWF activity in plasma. Described state of NO-system of erythrocytes in patients with PAH and its changes under the influence of sildenafil therapy. We describe the factors that increase the likelihood of poor response to sildenafil therapy.
