Object - the process of teaching junior pupils; aim - to find out the influence of scientifically substantiated and experimentally tested pedagogical conditions of optimization of junior pupils' independent educational activity by means of pedagogical diagnostics on the level of junior pupils' education quality; methods -theoretical, empirical, of mathematical statistics; novelty - the research is the first to scientifically substantiate and experimentally test pedagogical conditions of diagnostics usage as a means of optimization of junior pupils' independent educational activity; the definition of the term "pedagogical diagnostics" as a procedure of pedagogical diagnosis directed at a pupil's personality condition study by fixing his/her most important characteristics in order to work out the prognosis of further activities and behaviour of a certain pupil has been specified; decision making on optimization of junior pupils' independent activity has been analysed; criteria and indices of the influence of optimization of junior pupils' independent educational activity by means of pedagogical diagnostics on the education quality have been singled out; the modes of optimization of junior pupils' independent learning activity have been studied; results - the scientifically substantiated pedagogical conditions of using diagnostics as a means of optimization of junior pupils' independent educational activity have been experimentally tested and are recommended for implementation in present day primary schools. Theoretical ideas and practical data, methodological teaching materials can be used by primary school teachers, by lecturers engaged in teachers' professional development courses, by students of higher education institutions during their learning "Pedagogy" and for writing course, diploma and master degree papers, by scholars and educators for writing textbooks and teaching manuals; field - pedagogy.
