Berezhnyi V. Geomorphic Threshold Situation Models in Fluvial Morphogenesis (on the example of the tributaries of the River Siversky Donets' Watersheds)

The object of study: factors and mechanisms of geographical situations occurrence in fluvial systems of watersheds. The aim of study: explanation of approaches to solve environmental problems based on the definition of the threshold geosituations of fluvial morphogenesis as а complex phenomena in watersheds. The employed methods: field, comparative and geographic, statistical and mathematical, geo-information mapping. The innovation aspects: the concept of geomorphic threshold situation is defined in the constructive and geographical aspects; the descriptors of modeling the conditions of geomorphic threshold situations occurrence are defined; methods to the diagnostic of geomorphic thresholds in watersheds are proposed; the systematization of geomorphic threshold situations is performed in detail and at a new level. The theoretical component of the study is considered to provide a scientific basis for the further development of methodological framework of constructive and geographical researches and definition the strategy of natural resources use in the face of the adverse impact of geomorphological processes.
