Essay

Dissertation is devoted to ways for scientific foundation of minimization of children radiation exposure due to indoor Radon-222 in social housing (child educational institutions) located on radon risk territory. Decrease of children irradiation doses covers optimization of radiation protection considering economic and social conditions in specific region. To implement the optimization procedure for the first time it were detected Radon-222 equilibrium equivalent concentrations in the child educational institutions and dwellings, it was estimated radiation exposure of the children and appropriate radiation risks and harms due to irradiation by this source. It was carried out a comparative analysis of harm and cost of countermeasures against radon. Ways of minimization of children radiation exposure in social housing (child educational institutions) were described for the first time. It was proved necessity of optimization countermeasures for each particular room or house subject to radon levels and routes, and also space-and-planning parameters of building.
