Essay

The dissertation deals with the issues of improving treatment and prophylaxis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), with the exception of main prognostic factors of development and course of disease. Complex study of clinical manifestations and functional peculiarities of GERD in children and adolescents was performed. Anamnesis peculiarities in GERD patients were marked out and favorable conditions for the disease development were revealed. It is proved that the disease in GERD children is taking its course against the background of disturbances of vegetative homeostasis and psycho-emotional state that is testified by prevalence of sympathetic activity in vegetative balance in GERD children during circadian cycle and unfavorable general state, as well as by low activity and mood, increased level of reactive and personal anxiety. GERD peculiarities were defined depending on the form of disease. It is revealed that in children with inflammatory changes in esophagus significantly more frequent secretory and motor-evacuation function disturbances are noted. Thus incompetence of cardia, pronounced hyperacid state of gastric secretion and prolonged acid reflux are significantly more often revealed in children with esophagitis. Methods of prognosis of the development and course of gastroesophageal reflux disease in children were worked out grounding on the researches results. Data received allowed to ground the appropriateness and efficiency of addition of herbal preparation into treatment and prophylaxis regimen taking into consideration that this drug has not only anti-inflammatory, pro-kinetic, bactericidal effect but promotes normalization of psycho-emotional state and vegetative homeostasis in patients that allows to reach quick regression of clinical symptoms, to decrease the number of acute attacks of disease during the year and to prolong the remission.
