Essay

The research is devoted to the topic of information stance as a factor of social and psychological maturity of students. The information stance as a set of individual, selective and conscious attitudes to information has been substantiated. The attitudes cause the development of personal, interpersonal, and public adequacy within the structure of social and psychological maturity of students through individual, micro- and semiosphere as three kinds of global information space. The author has defined empirically the ties between various methods of information processing and styles of information acquisition in the structure of information stance as well as their relation to personal properties of students. The personal, interpersonal, public and mixed types of students' social and psychological maturity are distinguished by special information stance. Moreover, some cross-cultural distinctions in conscious attitude to information among Ukrainian and U.S. students have been established. The psychological meaning of the information security and its relation to personality's social and psychological maturity has been defined. A program aimed at social and psychological maturity development on the basis of information maturity has been designed and verified.
