Vernygora N. Book publishing for children in Ukraine of the XX century: typol-ogy, problems, genre features

Book publishing for children is the one of the most important spheres of publish-ing. Such statement is formulated on the basis of functional destination of a book, which can be considered as a source of information; a source of new knowledge; a mean of re-alization of human's cultural needs; a hermeneutical source; a verbal foundation; an ori-gin of creation of virtual reality and an origin of forming of human's fundamental val-ues. In other words a book takes part in forming of personality, which is very important when it concerns children's audience. But this issue is still underexplored in Ukraine. The scientific work is dedicated to integrated study of typological, problematic and genre peculiarities of book publishing for children in Ukraine on the basis of a big document material. In particular it mentions and characterises the first book editions for children in Ukraine, analyses their content; notices the main centres of book publishing for children, describes their activity; systematises and generalises information about book publishing for children in Ukraine of the XX century; distinguishes stages of book publishing, analyses works of these stages; classifies editions according to the problems, typological features and age groups; interprets the main approaches to the editing work with book editions for children.
