Sotnichenko V. Medical-psychological criteria for quality care for patients with schizophrenia

The thesis systematizes the existing international and national approaches to the methods, indicators and criteria for assessing the quality of medical and social care for patients with schizophrenia. It was scientific proved methodical approaches to determining the quality of psychiatric care to patients with such pathology using medical and psychological criteria. It was identified socio-psychological and clinical-psychological characteristics of patients with schizophrenia, that affect the quality of the care they receive. The estimation of satisfaction was provided with a survey of patients with schizophrenia. The burden of families of patients with schizophrenia was identified and analyzed, established its relationship with quality of medical and social assistance, identified factors that decrease it. On the base of comprehensive multifaceted study of schizophrenic patients and their relatives was developed and methodically secured complex of medical and psychological criteria quality medical care for patients in this category. It was proved the feasibility and efficiency of this complex of criteria in the evaluation of the quality of psychiatric care to patients with schizophrenia in order to improve it. Designed complex of medical and psychological criteria allowed us to determine the target of influence and activities of medical and social care for patients with schizophrenia and their families.
