Essay

In the thesis for the first time L. N. Tolstoy's works being related to the Crimea, the Crimean realia and events are interpreted at the level of literary criticism. The ways of creating the special Crimean Text which is unlike Crimean texts of other authors are traced back. In this regard, the influence of the Crimean War events and of the author's realistic outlook on the process of the Crimean Text formation in L. N. Tolstoy's works is evaluated. In this country such an approach hasn't been taken yet. The Crimean Text of L. N. Tolstoy's works is unique not only in its structure but also in its content. L. N. Tolstoy is probably the only writer in Russian literature who, while creating the Crimean Text, doesn't depart from myth but chooses the way of demythologization of local space. Singling out the Crimean Text in L. N. Tolstoy's works helps to organize the material under consideration in a new way and to bring into correlation those Tolstoy's works which not only were not correlated with each other earlier, but couldn't be correlated under other conditions. This makes it possible to come to unexpected but quite reasonable conclusions.
