Shchur N. Drama and public discourse of the theater by Y. A. Mamontov in the ideological and aesthetic context of the age.

The thesis is devoted to the systematical investigation of drama and public discourse of the theater by Y. A. Mamontov according to the social and artistic processes of the age. The development of Y. A. Mamontov's individual style was analyzed from the early stage of symbolism reflection to the formation of the social realism canon, from the dramatic to the journalistic paradigm of the Y. A. Mammontov's world view as well. The dissertation also gives the features of genre and style, topical frames, ways of the conflict's creation in drama, as well as ways of drama's plot and characters simulation, in the discourse of artistic symbolism, expressionism, and social realism. It is known that Y. A. Mamontov made an attempt to create a new type of social realism drama with new heroes according to the development of national and European traditions. The thesis also was devoted to the identity and performance of Y. A. Mamontov's ideas about periodization, theory and methodology of the investigation of Ukrainian theater and drama. Y. A. Mamontov stressed the historical continuity of the theater and drama's development in Ukrainian culture.
