The dissertation is devoted to actual but insufficiently investigated in contemporary philosophical literature the problem of human identity in the spiritual dimensions of mental definitions. The evolution of understanding of the concept of human identity in the European philosophical-cultural thought from Antiquity to Modern period of history is investigated. The contribution German and French existentialist thinkers in the study of identity of the human being are reflected. The problem of identity in Ukrainian philosophy is investigated. The spiritual, mental existentials and sacrаmental signatures of Ukrainian culture are characterized.
