Didenko N. Variation of verbal paradigm in Old Ukrainian monuments of the 1st half of the XVIIth century

The thesis is based on various genres of monuments of the 1st half of the XVIIth century. A comprehensive analysis of variation of the verbal tense forms (verbal inflection) was conducted. Nature of the phenomenon of morphological variation and criteria for its selection were clarified, the main trends in the use of variant inflections of verbs in business sources from different regions of Ukraine were described. The extent of wide-spreadness of synthetic and analytical forms of the past and the future tenses in the clerical language, which intensively included folk- colloquial elements, was illustrated. There was established that sporadic use of compounds of imperfective aspect of the infinitive with formal auxiliary verb ?ти in personal forms proves slow inclusion of the synthetic form of the future tense in the language of monuments of the studied period. The observed variant forms are presented in comparison with the corresponding forms of the modern literary and dialect language. The peculiarities of usage of ancient inflections, supported by written-book tradition, gradual assimilation and functioning of live-language forms, which later became the literary norm, were defined.
