Essay

This dissertation is dedicated to a comprehensive study of the essence of the principle of subsidiarity and peculiarities of its application by the local self-governments bodies of different tiers. In order to get a holistic view of a problem the author analyzed the national legislation on local self-government of Ukraine, as well as current legislation of the European Union member-states (including autonomized Spain, regionalized Italy and decentralized France) and furthermore, international legal documents of the Council of Europe and the encyclical, which form the basis of the social teaching of the Catholic Church.
