Essay

Thesis for the degree of candidate of technical science in specialty 05.11.07 - optical instruments and systems. - National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute", Kiev, 2013. The thesis is devoted to the solution of the scientific problem of increasing the effectiveness of optoelectronic surveillance systems (OESS) by improvement the tools of visual information fusion. The problem is solved by development of fusion method for IR channel resolution improvement, development of IR and TV channels fusion method based on informativity map, and development the method for dual-band OESS with image fusion performance evaluation based on targeting task performance metric for fused systems. Mathematical model of dual-band OESS was made that allows to estimate the effectiveness of separate channels and the effectiveness of the whole system with image fusion. Simulations and performance evaluation of dual-band OESS with IR/TV fusion are made that is probability of detection, recognition and identification for different operating conditions. The results of the experimental studies of the effectiveness of dual-band OESS with IR/TV fusion in different operating conditions are presented that confirm the proposed model and fusion methods adequacy. Key words: optoelectronic surveillance system, image fusion, targeting task performance metric, informativity map.
