Essay

The aim of the dissertation research is the study of the specific stress reactions of people with different level of obsessive-compulsive symptoms through diagnosis of protective mechanisms and strategies of this contingent. The symptom as an attempt to adapt comes up when there is no possibility to use more healthy and constructive way of coping with. Thus, the presence of disorder and change of the usual lifestyle is the proof of disturbance of adaptation and presence of the imbalance in the system of protective complexes of personality. In the experimentally-diagnostic part of this work it is set, that increase of activity of such protective mechanisms as regression and substitution and decrease of compensation activities leads to exacerbation of obsessive-compulsive symptoms. At the level of perceived ways of coping there are coping actions aimed to avoid the problem situation and social contacts, suppression of emotions. The practical value of the results of this research is that usage of received data in psychotherapy contributes to the reduction of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, helps to improve results of therapy and its stability, reduce the dosage of psychotropic medicines and gives the possibility of mitigation of the progress of obsessive-compulsive disorder, leads to decrease of maladaptive responses and improvement of the patients' lives.
