Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the theoretical and practical problems of the prevention of juvenile crime in the countries - members of the EU. The author has investigated and classified the main approaches to the definition of scope of the phenomenon of "juvenile delinquency" that exist in modern Western criminology; has analyzed the quantitative and qualitative indicators of this phenomenon on the example of such countries as Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and others; has identified main trends in the development of European juvenile crime of today, and also showed the main reasons of the latency of this type of crimes. On the basis of the separation of various spheres of agents of socialization of minors, factors having the greatest influence on modern European teenage crime were classified in the dissertation. Based on the analysis of normative-legal base in the sphere of prevention of juvenile crime at the EU level and with regard to the crime situation, the attempt is made to clarify and identify the most effective strategic direction in these areas. Taking into account already investigated positive and negative experience of the European countries, peculiarities of the structure of this type of crime in the EU and its certain similarity with the corresponding segment of the crime in Ukraine, as well as general trends in the development of European law in the field of prevention of juvenile crime, some ways of implementation to the Ukrainian legislation and practical activity of the individual components of effective experience of the prevention of juvenile crime in the countries- members of the EU have been proposed.
