Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the complex politological research on the role and functions of the intelligentsia in the process of renewal of the political regime in the USSR during the period of de-Stalinization. The basic theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of the role of intellectuals in the political process aresystematized. Inthesis characterized the relationship of intellectuals and power as a reflection of the internal contradictions of the political regime and outlined the status of the politicization of intellectuals. The transformation mechanisms of control over political activities of intellectuals is observed. It was proved that control of social and political activities ofintellectuals realized both in institutional and non-institutional forms, among which the most used form of ideological campaigns. It is shown that the intelligentsia, because of its inherent internal contradictions, is the most powerful potential carrier of dissent. It is established that particular use protestmodel of political participation intellectuals defined the meaning of the Soviet political discourse, the concentration of political protest orientations mainly among intellectuals and gradual leveling of the actual status of the intelligentsia as a socially meaningful groups . Experiences protest forms of political participation shows that the needs of protest potential intelligence can put into the framework of the scenario, designed according to the interests and objectives of the government.
