The subject of study are feuilletons of 1844-1846 ("Chronicle of Petersburg resident", "Petersburg summer cottages and neighborhood", "Features from characteristics of Petersburg human population", notes and comments to Dr. Puff's lectures, "Remarkable correspondence"), unfinished works ("Story of poor Klim", "Tikhon Trostnikov's life and adventures" (1843-1848), "Thin man: his adventures and observation" (1853-1855), a novel of N. A. Nekrasov and M. М. Stanytskyi "Three countries of the world" (1848). The object is to perform an analysis of the features of the poetics of physiologies in N. A. Nekrasov's prose in the 1840s and 1850s and their genre character and originality is specified. The methods are - culture-historical, comparative-typological, genetic, and descriptive. The novelty is to attempt the system research of physiological features in Nekrasov's feuilletons, stories and novels. The peculiarities of their functioning in literary works are shown; the prose works of poet classic are analyzed not like second-rate fiction but like prose connected with Russian and West-European artistic traditions. They are seamlessly enrolled in processes realistic prose evolution. The role and place of writer's artistic legacy is specified. The results can be used in further scientific research woks in history of Russian literature of the XIX century and in the process of study of philological subjects in higher school including special courses and seminars of study, in writing aids and textbooks; discipline is philology.
