Khomenko I. Conditions and mechanisms for formation of freezing precipitation and atmospheric icing near the surface and aloft over the Ukraine.

The object - freezing precipitation, aircraft icing, different types of the atmospheric icing; the aim - investigation of the complex conditions and physical mechanisms of formation and fallout of supercooled droplets near the surface and aloft; methods - the physical and statistical analysis, hydrodynamic analysis, discriminant analysis; the results - features of spatial and temporal distribution of atmospheric icing, in particular, freezing precipitation, are revealed for territory of Ukraine; mechanisms and complex conditions for formation of large supercooled droplets are investigated near the surface and aloft; the discriminant functions, which allow dividing areas with different types of the atmospheric icing, are obtained; the novelty - the common mechanism of the freezing precipitation formation is determined for Ukraine; comparative analysis of the conditions, which are friendly to formation of supercooled droplets near the surface and aloft; physically based criteria, which divide the various types of the atmospheric icing, are determined; the introduction degree - is introduced; the branch of using - forecast centers and bodies of local government.
