A comprehensive recearch of social memory as a forming factor of territorial identity for rural and city residents has been undertaken in the thesis. Based on the data provided by the author's empirical research, the specific features of images dynamics in the social memory of city and country dwellers, and also spesifics of territorial identification of local residents and non-residents are being defined.
