Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of developing receptive grammar skills (for tenses of the Latin perfective system). The present work identifies the theoretical pedagogical, psychological, and methodological prerequisites for the development of future philologists' grammar competence. Using the functional-structural approach, a selection of grammar material dealing with the Latin perfective system was made. The findings of the present study support the proposed hypothesis that using the linear-concentric principle of learning the Latin perfective system that follows the above-mentioned sequence in developing grammar skills results in a higher level of grammar competence in Philology majors.
