The author analyzes different approaches to the organization of project and art activity of technology teachers in postgraduate education in domestic and foreign psycho-pedagogical science. The main components and criteria, indicators and levels of design competence of technology teachers in postgraduate design education are singled out in a paper. Structural-functional model and organizational-pedagogical conditions of postgraduate project and art activity of technology teachers, which are favourable for the formation of their design competence are theoretically justified and experimentally tested while research. The programs of theoretical courses such as "Design of knowledge" and "Design-trainings" were developed. The programs of art design: "Picture" and "Print", actuality and effective use of which are confirmed by experimental studies were modified in paper.
