Bagrij K. Left ventricular structure and function abnormalities and their correction with carvedilol in elderly patients with chronic coronary artery disease

The object of the development of left ventricular structure and function abnormalities in elderly patients with chronic coronary artery disease; the goal - improving of management of chronic coronary artery disease in elderly patients; methods - clinical, biochemical, imunophermentic, instrumental, statistical; novelty - the relationship between the development of left ventricular remodeling in elderly patients with coronary artery disease and serum levels of galectin-3 was established. The possibility in left ventricular remodeling risk reduction using carvedilol in a dose of 25 mg/day was demonstrated, especially for patients with levels of galectin-3 less than 23.2 ng/ml and grade I of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction; the observed data were introduced into practice of the Central clinical hospitals № 1 (Donetsk), Donetsk regional clinical territorial medical organization, Selidovo central municipal hospital, municipal hospital № 3 (Kramatorsk), Starobeshevo central municipal hospital, municipal hospital № 3 (Gorlovka) and also in the educational process of Donetsk National Medical Universities.
