Essay

A comparative analysis of the historical persons' reception in the first and second parts of XlXth c. literature is done, it's proved that the romantic tradition was the determinant of the reception in the first period literature, and in the literature of the second period was realistic and synthetic one. Historical images in the Classic literature were carrying the Ukrainian state idea; they demonstrated the Ukrainian nation's traditionall aspirations to self-identity and political self-assertion.
