In this dissertation the phenomenon of the old Ukrainian literature (ХVІ-ХVІІІ сenturies) in the literary works of Іvan Franko is investigated. The methodology of studying of literature of epoch of Renesans, Reformation and Baroko in scientific works of Ivan Franko. The specific of methodological ways, methodology of Ivan Franko in the context of the history of literature of that time are analyzed. It is underlined the using by Ivan Franko of comparative method. It is underlined the specific of interpretation by Franko of literature of ХVІ сentury, polemic literature of this time, for example phenomenon of uniat Ipatij Potij and orthodox Ivan Vyshenskij. It is investigated the poetry of ХVІ сentury in the scientific interpretation of Ivan Franko, its national aspect. It is analyzed the understanding of the literature of ХVІІ-ХVІІІ сenturyis in the literature works of Ivan Franko. Partly, the interpretation by him Baroko' prose, poetry, drama.
