Chuchvara A. Sociocognitive factors of forming a pupil’s nickname (based on unofficial names of pupils in Lviv Region).

The present thesis focuses on the research of pupils’ nicknames. The thesis is the first attempt to research unofficial names based on the material of nicknames of Lviv Region pupils coming from general education schools of villages, towns and cities (10 845 nicknames were collected, while the analysis covers 2467 individual pupils’ names recorded in the answers of 2400 pupils making acceptable volume of sample data). The results of the research produce an effect on forming the content of sociolinguistic notion ‘pupil’s nickname’ and ‘unofficial names of a pupil’. Unofficial names analyzed in the text of the thesis and supplements will be included to the dictionary “Nicknames of pupils in Lviv Region”.
