Due to result of the research conducted among 104 patients with breast cancer who underwent mastectomy, there were defined clinical and psychological characteristics of their desadaptation. There were studied the dynamics of the status of the psycho-emotional sphere of women in pre- and postoperative period. The interrelation between the extent of the surgical intervention and mental status of women after mastectomy was studied. Based on the study of clinical and psychological characteristics (individual-psychological and psychosocial components) desadaptation of women after mastectomy, there were identified factors that contribute to or, visa versa, do not contribute to its formation among this category of patients. Based on the data received there was scientifically justified and developed a comprehensive system of medical-psychological assistance to women who have had mastectomy, consisted of psycho-diagnostically examination; psycho-educational events (informational support); volunteers' assistance; psycho-correctional measures based on the compensatory-adaptive potential of patients.
