The views on the form of the Ukrainian state of the national representatives of political and legal thought in the period between the world wars have been researched in the thesis on the basis of the original sources. The scientific and theoretical legacy of M. Grushevskyi, S. Dnistrianskyi, O. Eihelman, P. Chyzhevskyi, S. Shelukhin, S. Rudnytskyi, O. Bochkovskyi, A. Zhyvotko, V. Lypynskyi, S. Tomashivskyi, V. Kuchabskyi, O. Nazaruk, Ye. Chykalenko, D. Dontsov, M. Stsiborskyi, S. Mazlakh, V. Shakhrai has been analyzed. It has been found that these public political figures and scientists referred in their writings not only to the study of the problem of revival of the independent Ukrainian state but they also substantiated the specific models of its development, including the ones through the prism of defining the form of its government, the form of state system and the form of state regime.
