Lopukh K. Evolution of monetarism in the last third of the 20th - at the beginning of 21st centuries

The essence of monetarism as a complete theoretical system of scientific views on the functioning of the economy at a certain stage of its development based on the use of the methodology of I. Lakatos' scientific research programs is revealed in the thesis. Analysis of genesis, development and formation of classical monetarism, reflection of its evolution in the last third of the 20th - at the beginning of 21st centuries are shown from the standpoint of evolutionary and systematic approaches. The impact of the cyclic dynamics of the world economic system on modification of the classical and emergence of new monetarism theories is also highlighted. In the paper, the prospects of monetarism development are associated with the integration of its scientific ideas with theoretical and methodological principles of the main directions of modern economic thought (Keynesianism and Institutional theory).
