Essay

The subject of inquiry is apologetic treatise "The Book About the Common Faith" (1619). The aim is to systematize scientific knowledge about Zechariah Kopystensky, staying on rhetorical figures to determine the main features of the poetics of "The Book About the Common Faith", to find out intertextual relations with polemical literature XVI-XVII-th century. Methods: cultural-historical, comparative and philological. The results and novelty: for the first time an analysis of poetics of "The Book About the Common Faith" is held, the classification of rhetorical figures used in the tract is showed, the base product sources is characterized, theological and ethno-cultural problems that Zechariah Kopystensky was interest is analyzed. The field of application: university's and school's courses of Ancient Ukrainian literature.
