Essay

Dissertation is devoted to study the determination of species composition, distribution, and dynamics of development by clamp rot of beet on the sugar beet roots during their storage in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine and the improvement of measurement system for decreasing their harmfulness. The main pathogens by clamp rot of sugar beet roots are fungi of the genus Botrytis P. Micheli ex. Pers., Fusarium Link., Penicillium Link. та Phoma Sacc. during the long-term storage. It is shown that development by clamp rot of beet depends on the meteorological conditions that formed during growing season of plants and during the storage period of sugar beet roots in the clamps. It is proved that infestation of sugar beet roots by clamp rot of beet leads to the losses of dry matter and sucrose. The smallest loss of dry matter and sucrose per 1% of gray rot development are hybrids of Ukrainian selection. Conducted researches show that sugar beet roots of hybrids of domestic selection are more tolerant to the infestation by clamp rot of beet during the long-term storage in their clamps. It is defined technical efficiency of fungicides toward by clamp rot of sugar beet and economic efficiency of their application is assessed.
