Daki O. The botanical lexis of the Ukrainian dialects spoken in the area between the Danube and Dniester rivers

The thesis is the first attempt in the Ukrainian linguistics of a systematic analysis of the botanical lexis of the Ukrainian South-Bessarabian dialects. It is based on the information independently collected according to the special programme. The thesis focuses on the study of the repertoire of the units of the botanical lexis of the investigated region, on the ways of nomination of plants and structure of floronomina, their geography and areal behavior. Some Romanian, Bulgarian, Russian dialects of this area have been examined to compare them with the Ukrainian dialects. The vectors of the language impacts of South-Bessarabian dialects have been identified. The mapping of the areal relevant lexical units made it possible to define seven dialect groups: North-Western, Northern, North-Eastern, Central, Eastern, South-Central, South-Western.
