Essay

The dissertation analyses the concepts verbal explicators representing the concetosphere of "people's moral" in the Ukrainian folklore. The cognitive approaches to study of the interconnections between language and thinking in general, and between ethnic mentality and national lingual world map in particular, have been outlined. The peculiarities of the conceptual and lingual world maps of Ukrainians within the system of general idea of the world have been described. Principal indicators of the Ukrainian mentality in ethnical and logical-philosophical traditions have been covered. For the research we used the bicentral "people's moral" concepts such as: loyalty - betrayal, industriousness - laziness, kindness - rage, modesty - haughtiness, sympathy - nonchalant, joy - sorrow, truth - falsehood, courage - cowardice, wit - stupidity, praise - blame, strength - weakness as well as the concepts which are not under consideration within correlative pairs, - deviant behavior, affection. The Ukrainians "people's moral" concepts existing in folklore texts are determined by mental qualities of the Ukrainian ethnos representatives as well as their domestic, ritual and labor traditions. It's been ascertained that the concepts under discussion have bicentral character which is conditioned by their localization within the hypersemes "well - badly". We have also mostly used lexical-semantical approach which enabled us to determine specific and auxiliary lexical verbalizers and partially contextual analysis which discovered the verbalizers' hidden and connotative semes adding to picture of every concept peripheral zone. Specific verbal embodiments of these extra-lingual indications are represented by the specific symbol-words which comprise zoonyms, ornithonyms, anthropomorphic nominations (directly and marginally anthropomorphic). The analysis proves that the Ukrainian people's creative genius has created the whole system of the semasiological and implicative nature's lingual exponents which embodied the ethnical ideas of moral maxima that are formed within the conceptually-lingual picture of the world.
