Shevchuk V. State and Legal System of Kievan Rus

Theoretical and methodological grounds of constructing an integrated model of the Old Russian state and law are determined in the paper. Works of foreign and domestic authors are systematized; research directions and strategies of studying the state and legal system of Kievan Rus both in the interdisciplinary dimension of the problem and its legal interpretation are critically comprehended. The analysis of the state and legal system of Kievan Rus origin as the first stage of Ukrainian national state is realized. In fact, the process of constructing the state within Russian lands by the evolutionary method is formulated; grounds, which were the basis of common institutions of state and law to all Russian lands are singled out; subjective vital values, orientations of the state construction like freedom, peace and truth are highlighted.
