Essay

Object: social issues in the contemporary Ukrainian society. Objective: conceptualization of the notion of "social problem" and the disclosure of its functioning in public and political discoursive practices of modern Ukrainian society for the use by public entities implementing social problems regulating strategies. Methods: comparative analysis and synthesis, typology, systems analysis, in-depth interviews and formalized methods of critical discourse analysis, methods of statistical analysis, including descriptive analysis, factor analysis and measurement of the odds ratio. Theoretical and practical results: suggested an author's definition of "social problem" as a social construct in the context of contemporary Ukrainian society; studied a specific design of social problems in the context of discursive practices of the political and ideological level; in the discursive practices at the political and ideological level, distinguished types of social problems roles depending on the positions of their functioning : role of integration/disintegration, an empowerment role / role of demotivation, role of positive image formation/role of negative image formation, role of legitimacy / delegitimacy. Novelty: development of the sociological concept of social problems from the position of social constructivism in the contemporary Ukrainian society. Degree of implementation: the results of the research were used for developing the strategy for establishing communication between Lviv city council and the public of the city by creating conditions for joint participation in the process of social problems resolving.
