Object - the number of predicates in modern Ukrainian literary language; purpose - to justify theoretically the status of predicates of quantity, organize and describe on the basis of common criteria for identifying their semantic types and means of formal representation of the structure of elementary semantically simple sentences in modern Ukrainian language; methods - descriptive methods with inherent internal and external cross level interpretation, structural methods together with the following methods as component analysis, transformation analysis, distributional analysis, the techniques for modeling; novelty - for the first time semantic types of formal grammatical representation, valence potency of quantitative predicates in Ukrainian linguistics are characterized with the help of broad factual material, their differential features and ranking criteria are defined; the component content of lexical, lexicon-grammatical and phraseological implementers of predicate distributors of quantitative values which consequently are combined into lexical-semantic group according to the integral function of one or another feature are identified; obligatory and optional valence of predicates of quantity are differentiated, means of explication for their subjective and object syntaxemes are considered; models and submodels of sentence structure which are typical for modern Ukrainian language as Sub + Praed quant and Sub + Praed quant + Exp are figured out; symmetric- asymmetric interaction between semantic, syntactic and grammatical levels of formal basic simple sentences with predicates of quantity are performed; results - actual material, key notions and the main conclusions of the thesis can be used at school and university practice of teaching grammar of modern Ukrainian language, during training courses, special seminars on semantic and functional syntax, in books writing, teaching aids, as well as in the research for undergraduate and graduate students; field of science - linguistics.
