The thesis investigates the development of the doctrine of competition of criminal law norms while imposing the punishment in the scientific literature. The essential features of this very phenomenon are established, their contents is investigated and the concept of the competition of criminal law norms while imposing the punishment is formulated on this basis. The competition of criminal law norms while imposing the punishment is differentiated from the law enforcement specification of norms, normative collision, rules of imposing the punishment for multiple offenses and cumulative sentences, replacement of criminal penalties and such an adjacent legal phenomenon as the set of norms on imposing the punishment is discovered.
