Essay

The thesis is devoted to the theoretical basis and the implementation of practical development of effective instruction while forming strategic competence of technical students by the example of electrical engineering speciality. The thesis reveals the essence of strategic competence while teaching professionally directed reading and it specifiesthe notion of strategic competence as well as its structure and substance. The topology of strategies for professionally directed reading acquirement has been drawn up, also a detailed complex of strategies and tasks for their realization while teaching professionally directed reading has been given. The criteria for evaluating students’ skills in reading professionally directed texts have been found out. A system of exercises based on using strategies to teach students professionally directed reading has been suggested.The effectiveness and validity of the suggested instruction were verified and confirmed during the experimental teaching. Practical recommendat ions on how to organize students to use strategic competence while teaching professionally directed reading have been proposed.
