Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of teaching international economic relations students to read professional oriented publicist texts in English. The research provides an elaborated methodology of teaching ESP reading. The linguistic analysis of newspaper texts enabled us to specify common difficulties of reading publicist articles which have been defined as the principal genre. It has been proved, that students should use reading and compression strategies to master ESP reading skills. Three stages of profession oriented reading activity have been defined: introductory motivating (pre-reading), operational cognitive (reading), control assessing (post-reading). The problems of reading material selection, elaboration of reading exercises and tasks, evaluation of language and speech skills have been widely developed.The effectiveness of the suggested methodology was verified and confirmed during the experimental teaching. Finally the methodological recommendations on education process implementation have been formulated.
