Kiseljova J. Formation and development of historiography as an academic and scientific discipline at the imperial Kharkiv University

Object of research is establishment and development of historiography as an academic and scientific discipline at the imperial Kharkiv University. The purpose of the thesis is a comprehensive study of the formation of the history of historiographical process at the imperial Kharkiv University. Methodological basis advocate the approaches developed within the history of science and intellectual history. Used methods are historical-typological, historical-genetic, historical-comparative analysis. Scientific novelty: author established stages of the history of historiographical process and discovered the features of its development, shaped by the degree of coherence between the cognitive system, infrastructure and socio-cultural systems within certain historiographical situations; the thesis characterizes the process of formation of historiography as a discipline in the system of vocational history education, including the formation of a particular disciplinary image of historiography; author offers a typology of the historiographical works of historians from the Kharkiv University, which is based on the understanding of the functional purpose of their historiographical writings; analyzing historian's awareness of the ethic character of historiographical knowledge and the formation of the communication space of historiography has provided an opportunity to demonstrate the close relationship between the development of this field of knowledge and the need to formulate the scientific community. Practical significance is in preparing academic work of the history of historiography , the history of historical knowledge , history of university science and education, as well as in teaching courses on historiography.
