Essay

The thesis is aimed on experimental and clinical studying of influence of post-and-core type and ferrule effect on clinical efficiency of endodontically treated teeth restoration. The use of ferrule effect in models of mandibular incisors restored with cast metal post-and-cores leads to a significant reduction of stress values in dentine, and its significant increase in models with glass fiber post. Ferrule effect provides significant increase of fracture resistance and stiffness in restored lower incisors, regardless of the post type. In case of no ferrule effect better fracture resistance can be achieved with cast metal post-and-core. In groups with ferrule effect the highest clinical success was found. Highest clinical efficacy in case of no ferrule was found in group with cast metal post-and-core. Differential method for selecting the post type depending on the coronal part preservation degree was developed.
