The thesis is the first attempt of a special investigation of complex scientific problems of tradition and modernist innovation made by Mikola Voronyi as lyrics and lyric-epics in the light of the latest trends in style and genre in the end of XIX century – at the beginning of XX century. The main sources of poetic symbolism of M. Voronyi, mastery of the author's individual skill and the author's style of image, deciphering of symbolic "I" of Voronyi as citizen, as fighter for Ukraine, for its people and for a better future are defined in the thesis.
