Tkachenko N. Educational sphere externalities in modern economies.

The thesis discloses the scientific issue which is relevant to various economic systems. Any modern economy has certain characteristics of the knowledge economy. It provides for the implementation of positive externalities of education what can contribute to the solution of such problems as the acceleration of economic growth, full employment of resources, social capital accumulation and social contradictions resolution. The thesis has substantiated the separation of externalities theory evolution stages and has investigated the contribution to the theory development made by different researchers during the XIX - XXI centuries. It discloses the content of externalities theory categorical matrix and illustrates its application in the individual educational sphere externalities analysis. The thesis defines the relation between the indicators of educational sphere and indicators which are able to identify education externalities according to the EU and Ukrainian data. Thus the thesis specifies the peculiarities of this relation. The thesis argues the priority directions of educational sphere state regulation mechanisms changes considering its ability to generate positive externalities.
