The author carried out the systematic research of the art-study of sources and stages of the development of fashion-illustration of the eighteenth - the beginning of the twenty-first centuries. The thesis shows that the changes in the style of interpretation of the fashion-costume images take place under the influence of historical, cultural, economic, social changes of a society too. The creative work of outstanding experts of fashion-illustration of the XX c. is the example of typical characteristic peculiarities of European and American fashion-illustration, conformities and factors of the creation of fashion-illustration. The analysis of works of modern designers, illustrators proved that it became a separate sphere of creative work.
