The thesis is devoted to the problems of criminal liability for menace or violence against a statesman or a public figure and to the formulation of scientifically based proposals for optimization of existing criminal law and practice based on a comprehensive and complex research. Relying on the conducted research, the author ascertains shortcomings of the current legislation and suggests ways of their elimination by means of appropriate changes and amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
