Parkhomenko L. Functioning and development of the sugar market in Ukraine

The thesis generalizes the theoretical provisions of the economic contents and the peculiarities of market relations development in the sugar beet sub-complex. It substantiates the conceptual bases for sugar beet production and sugar market economic regulation at the state level. The author has formulated the criteria and indices system for the evaluation of sugar market conjuncture with due regard to external and internal milieu of its functioning. The world trends and perspectives of the beet and cane sugar market development are evaluated and the place of Ukraine in this market is defined. The monitoring of the sugar beet sub-complex production and consumption is done. The retrospective analysis of sugar beets production and transformation efficiency is carried out, the main factors guaranteeing its improvement are defined. The author has proposed the ways for improving the mechanism of joining state and market regulators of sugar market development and the ways for improving inter-branch relations in the sugar beet sub-complex. The ways of sugar beet production diversification based on alternative energy production are proposed.
