Object of research: political modernization of public relations. Purpose: is the theoretical justification of the role and functions of the government in the process of political modernization of public relations in Ukraine. Methods: analysis and synthesis, historical, modeling, system approach, comparative analysis. Results improving the role and functions of the government in the process of political modernization of public relations in Ukraine. Novelty: define the role and functions of the government in the process of political modernization of public relations in Ukraine; improved theoretical foundations justify detention modernization of social relations through the provision of meaningful signs it; developed further signs of meaningful justification of state power and other activities introduced in the executive committee of Kharkiv city council and the Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine. Fields of application: public administration, local government, training and retraining of civil servants, local government officials.
