The dissertation deals with complex research of such a property right's object as an animal. The author describes the legal nature of an animal as an object of property rights, general and special characteristics of the animal as an object of property right are marked out. Classifications of the animals as objects of property right are provided based on different criteria. Such categories as "animal" and "thing" were analyzed and compared from the civil law perspective.
