Kozmuk B. Formation and development of language legislation in Ukraine (1917-1996 years): historical and legal research.

On the basis of a scientific analysis of language legislation the historical and legal process of establishment of the legal regulation of linguistic sphere in the Ukrainian in the 1917-1996 years, formation of the legal status of the Ukrainian language and the languages of national minorities in contemporary Ukrainian states and state formations, the development of legal policy of these states regarding language rights of citizens, minorities and the Ukrainian people (nation) were studied. The specificity of the legal regulation of the language issue in Ukraine, due to historical and legal process of searching and defending Ukrainian identity, status and functional relations of the Ukrainian language in state-building processes and processes of the legal culture of the Ukrainian people were found. In order to improve the modern language legislation in Ukraine on the basis of historical and legal experience amendments to several laws of Ukraine were proposed.
